As part of their study of simple machines, including wheels and axles, the Troy 1 and Troy 2 classrooms of Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc. had some very special visitors! .

Danielle Pedrick and Sam Tice, members of the local roller derby team Dolls of Destruction, came to talk to the Troy 1 and Troy 2 classrooms about roller skates and how they work.  Danielle showed the children one of the wheels, how they have ball bearings inside, and how the wheels attach to the axle using a wrench.  They also told the children about the sport of roller derby, demonstrating it right in the classrooms.
