Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Early Head Start and Pre-K programs are now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year, which will begin in August 2018.

Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc.ís mission is to provide exceptional educational opportunities and high quality supportive services that will empower children and families to grow and thrive. It is due to this mission that staff strive to make sure that all families are successful members of the community and that every child is ready for school. Head Start, Early Head Start, and Pre-K programs are offered at no cost to families.

Women who are pregnant or have a child ages birth to 3 years old, can receive services through our Early Head Start program. Early Head Start provides home-based programming on a full calendar year schedule. Early Head Start offers personalized weekly visits; information about child development, nutrition, health, social services and parenting; a support network for pregnant women and families with young children, assistance with services for children who have special needs, and meetings with other young families. In addition, socialization is offered through family play groups that are scheduled monthly.

Head Start and Pre-K are high quality child and family programs with a focus on increasing the school readiness of young children. These programs are available to families with children 3 to 5 years old. Head Start and Pre-K offers educational activities, nutritious meals and snacks, health check-ups, computer learning, family services, and creative arts. Transportation is provided at several of the Head Start/Pre-K centers throughout Bradford and Tioga counties.

Funding for our programs is provided by the Federal Government and Pennsylvania Department of Education, as well as private donors.

Parent involvement is the secret of Head Startís success. Parents can join a Parent Committee, Policy Council, or volunteer to serve in the classroom. Parents learn fun and educational activities they can do at home with their child, and also learn about their childís development, nutrition, health and other needs.
