Real World Experiences are Real World FUN for

Bradford Tioga Head Start, Inc. Children

Children enrolled in Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc. learn about a lot of people, places and things. From August until the last day of the program year, teachers and staff are educating children about the world around them. Whenever possible, the teachers try to bring real world experiences into the classroom for the children or to take them out to the real world!

During the month of May, the children enrolled in the Troy 2 classroom studied farms and farm animals. Near the end of their studies, what a surprise they received when they were told that on May 24, they would be taking a trip to Sugar Branch Farms, in Columbia Crossroads! During the visit, they saw calves that were 1-5 days old; mother cows that had just had babies and they learned about the type of feed, bedding and environment the mothers and calves need.

The children also participated in a scavenger hunt to find items on the farm. They made butter with the 2017-2018 Bradford County Dairy Princess, Jenna Harnish who also gave them stickers and pencils.  Before they left, the children ate lunch at the farm and were given ice cream for dessert. What a wonderfully full day of learning, exploring and living real world experiences!
